The United States plans to add 21.5G watts of solar power in 2022
2022.Jan 20
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)'s latest "Preliminary Monthly Inventory Report for Power Generation Equipment", the U.S. grid will add 46.1 GW of utility-scale power capacity in 2022, of which 21.5 GW is expected to be solar power generation capacity. More than the 15.5 GW of solar capacity added in the U.S. in 2021.

Zacks Equity Research, a well-known US investment and research institution, believes that this is mainly due to the rapid transformation of the world to a net-zero emission environment driven by strong growth in demand for clean energy, which is the main catalyst supporting the solar industry. Additionally, falling prices, heavy corporate investment and a booming energy storage market have recently played a vital role in strengthening the U.S. solar industry.

According to a report released by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), as of 2020, the past decade. The cost of installing solar equipment has dropped by more than 70%. Its latest "Solar Business Report" also shows that driven by US corporate investment, solar power generation capacity has increased to 8,300 megawatts, an increase of about 20 times over the past decade.

In addition, the booming energy storage market is also driving the development of the US solar industry. Wood Mackenzie, an internationally renowned energy consulting firm, once said that the United States is a global leader in the field of energy storage and is expected to account for 40% of the world's total energy storage by 2030.
