As we all know, the main power of the new energy vehicles currently on the market is provided by the battery, and the service life has a certain number of years. According to statistics, as of the end of June 2022, my country's new energy vehicles reached 10.01 million. With the increase in the number of new energy vehicles, more and more people have begun to pay attention to the energy storage of new energy vehicles.

Is there a new energy storage source that can avoid the shortcomings of traditional batteries? The application of iron-chromium flow batteries has given a new direction to the field.

The iron-chromium flow battery energy storage technology is known as one of the longest and safest electrochemical energy storage technologies. The electrolyte solution of this technology is an aqueous solution with high stability and flexible power and capacity on demand. It is customized, and has the advantages of long cycle life, good stability, easy recovery, wide operating temperature range and low cost, and is a new type of power system that meets the needs of large-scale, long-term safe energy storage in my country.

In addition to cost advantages, iron-chromium flow batteries naturally have these advantages:

1. Low toxicity and low pollution: iron-chromium flow batteries are low in toxicity and corrosiveness, and pose little threat to the ecological environment.

2. Wide start-up range and strong environmental adaptability: iron-chromium flow batteries can be used in a wide temperature range, down to the extremely cold weather in the Northeast, up to the hot summer of Turpan, and the environmental adaptability is very good.

3. Strong cycle times and easy recovery: In layman's terms, iron-chromium flow batteries are quite durable, and theoretically the number of cycles can reach more than 10,000 times, and when they need to be discarded in various situations, waste iron-chromium flow batteries can be recycled. Also very convenient.

Therefore, relying on these advantages of iron-chromium flow batteries, their related research and development applications have been carried out one after another, and they have entered the stage of commercial application from the laboratory, providing a new solution for large-scale and long-term energy storage in the power industry.

It is understood that the large-scale application of iron-chromium flow battery technology will be of great significance to the realization of goals such as promoting green energy transformation in my country, ensuring energy security, promoting high-quality development of clean energy, and addressing climate change. According to estimates, every 1 GW of iron-chromium flow battery energy storage system put into operation with a storage duration of 6 hours can increase the on-grid electricity of high-quality wind power and photovoltaic power by 1,980 GWh every year, directly reduce carbon emissions by about 1.96 million tons, and reduce The dust emission is about 540,000 tons, which is equivalent to about 750,000 tons of replacing standard coal. According to the requirements of the new energy distribution and energy storage policy, each new 1GW energy storage system can support 5GW of new energy to be connected to the grid. Calculated based on the annual utilization hours of 1,500 hours, it will indirectly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7.48 million tons, reduce dust emissions by 2.04 million tons, and save energy. 2.86 million tons of standard coal has injected strong scientific and technological power into the construction of my country's new power system and the realization of the "3060" goal.
